Dev Log #1: Introduction to My First Game
Hello, everyone!
I’m thrilled to finally share with you a project that’s been close to my heart—my very first game. As a lifelong fan of classic Metroidvania games, I've always dreamed of creating a game that captures the spirit of those titles while bringing something new to the table. After countless hours of work, learning, and passion, my game is finally taking shape, and I couldn’t be more excited to bring you along on this journey.
Game Overview
Set in a retro environment that pays homage to the classic Metroidvania games, this game emphasizes exploration, puzzles, and ranged combat. The pixel-based art style is a love letter to the games I grew up with, and I've worked hard to create a world that feels both nostalgic and fresh. Here are some of the key features so far:
- Diverse Weaponry: The game currently features a variety of weapons that players can discover and master. Each weapon offers a unique way to interact with the environment and combat enemies, adding layers of strategy to your gameplay.
- Challenging Boss Battles: There are currently two bosses in the game, each designed to test your skills and push you to think creatively about how to use the tools at your disposal. These battles are inspired by the tense, heart-pounding encounters that define the genre.
- Metroidvania-Style Puzzles: Puzzles play a significant role in the game, requiring players to explore, experiment, and sometimes backtrack to find the solutions. I've put a lot of thought into making these puzzles challenging yet rewarding, and I hope you find them as satisfying to solve as I did to create.
- Pixel-Based Art: The entire game is built on a pixel art foundation, giving it that retro feel while allowing for creative expression within the limitations of the style. It’s been a joy to design and animate every character, environment, and effect.
